Course Description

A question and answer style review session designed to actively engage the learner and allow them to test their knowledge about anatomical structures and radiographic procedures commonly performed in the x-ray department. Multiple choice questions are presented and tips are provided to aid the learner in answering the questions. Answers to the questions are given as part of the lecture, and an explanation to justify the correct answer is presented as well.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this presentation, the audience will be able to:

  • Discuss various techniques used to obtain radiographic images of specific anatomical structures
  • Describe the effects radiographic positioning has on contrast media
  • Locate and identify anatomical structures of the upper extremity, skull, and abdomen
  • Explain considerations taken when a patient undergoes trauma imaging

Speaker Bio

Missy Curtis, M.S., R.T. (R)(CT) CNMT

Missy Curtis is an Instructor in the Department of Radiologic Sciences at the University of South Alabama. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Sciences in 2007, and her Masters in Instructional Design and Development in 2016. Before she became an Instructor, she worked at Mobile, Alabama’s only Level One trauma center for 14 years. It is because of her experience at University Hospital, that she has a passion for challenging students to think outside the box and see the bigger picture when faced with difficult situations. She is an active member of the ALSRT and currently serves as the Member at Large (2019-2021 term). When she is not working, she spends her time with her husband and three kids, usually at one of their sporting events.
