Course Description
This presentation will be a review of radiation protection and biology. It will include information required on the ARRT examination for radiography.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this presentation, the audience will be able to:
- Identify units of measurement of various types of radiation and the dosimeters used for such measurement
- Describe sources of radiation and protective devices used to limit exposure
- Describe methods of minimizing patient exposure
- Describe the biological effects of radiation exposure
- Identify the exposure limits described in various NCRP reports

Speaker Bio
Gina Tice, MSRS, R.T. (R)
Gina Tice is a Radiologic Technology instructor with over 30 years of teaching experience. She has taught in both hospital-based and community college programs. She is a graduate of West Florida Regional Medical Center School of Radiologic Technology, received an Associate of Science Degree in Radiologic Technology from Pensacola Junior College, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technical-Vocational Education/Program Development from the University of West Florida, and a Master of Science in Radiologic Sciences from Midwestern State University.
She is currently the director of the Radiologic Technology Program at Gadsden State Community College where she has been for over 21 years.
She is looking forward to retirement and spending more time with her husband and three grandchildren.
