Proposed Bylaw Changes

Summary of Proposed Bylaw Revisions

2024 Bylaw Committee Report

Voting members attending the 2024 Annual Conference will vote to accept/reject proposed revisions during the 2nd Business Meeting of the Membership on April 6, 2024.

We propose the addition of clarification for three membership categories: Life, Graduate Bridge, and Silver (line items 97-113)

Rationale?

1. “Active” members are described as a membership category in lines 83-88. Key distinction is that “active” members are both ALSRT and ASRT members. Being an “active” member qualifies an R.T. member to hold office.

2. Without reading the “active” membership text in lines 83-88, one might incorrectly assume “active” means they “actively participate”, such as by attending conferences or serving on a committee.

3. Proposed addition within the Life, Graduate Bridge, and Silver membership categories (Line 97-113) clarifies that an R.T. member who is also an ASRT member may hold office.

We propose revision that would rearrange but not otherwise change a sentence about student delegate representation on the Board (line item 227-239)

Rationale?

1. We moved line item VI.1.B. to the last line of that section, which combines content discussing the role of the ALSRT student delegate. Adds to readability.

2. Combining the lines required relabeling of subsections B-E.

We propose update that clarifies the process used by Board to appoint alternate delegates to the ASRT House of Delegates (line item 419)

Rationale?

1. Propose adding the word “majority” to better describe the process used within the Board to appoint alternate delegates to the ASRT House of Delegates.
